The Zambian artist, ‘Smack Jay’ took some time out of his busy 10-day tour in Northern Ireland to say ‘Sup’. Much to the delight of the pupils, he performed some of his music, and spoke about children’s rights on what was ‘Make Music Day’. The pupils and staff absolutely loved the mix of the traditional Zambian rhythms with modern hip hop and got the opportunity to throw some shapes of their own! This interactive and entertaining visit was facilitated by ‘Beyond Skin’ and the ‘Lyric Theatre’ and illustrates how the arts and music are such an exceptional tool for overcoming barriers in our society, fostering connection, celebrating diversity and bringing about positive social change.
