This week, our school marked Safer Internet Day with a series of pupil‑led assemblies delivered by our fantastic Dream Space Ambassadors. This year’s theme, “AI Aware: Safe, Smart and in Control,” encouraged pupils to think carefully about the role of Artificial Intelligence in their everyday lives and how to use it responsibly.
During the assemblies, pupils explored:
- What AI is and where we see it in the world around us
- Generative AI and how it creates images, text, and ideas
- A brief history of AI and how quickly it has developed
- Safe and responsible use, including knowing its limits
- What to be careful about, such as misinformation, bias, privacy, and over‑reliance
To deepen understanding, year groups took part in Think–Pair–Share discussions and responded to decision‑making statements. This sparked excellent conversations around online safety, digital choices, and the importance of staying in control when using technology.
Across the school, pupils also enjoyed a Digital Wellbeing Day, completing a range of in‑class ICT activities designed to build confidence, creativity, and safe digital habits. Safer Internet Day was a valuable opportunity for pupils to reflect on how they use technology and how they can make positive, informed and responsible choices online.
