During Anti-Bullying Week, our school embraced the theme “The Power for Good”, focusing on how each of us can make a positive difference through kindness, respect, and inclusion. Pupils explored what bullying is, how it affects others, and most importantly, what we can do to stop it.
Throughout the week, we celebrated with fun and meaningful activities:
- Odd Socks Day to show that it’s great to be different.
- World Kindness Day, where we recognised exceptional kindness.
- Crazy Hair Day, filling St Anne’s with colour and creativity as pupils expressed individuality and celebrated diversity.
One class also created a Kindness Jar, writing one kind thing about every pupil, reinforcing the importance of positive words and actions. P6 classes joined St Gerard’s for a special Anti-Bullying Parade, proudly carrying posters and banners with messages of equality, respect, and inclusion. Despite the wet and windy weather, pupils marched with enthusiasm to share the message that kindness matters. Afterwards, everyone enjoyed pizza and juice, thanks to St Gerard’s hospitality, and connected with other schools united against bullying. School councillors also shared practical strategies, including the THINK rule (Is it True? Helpful? Inspiring? Necessary? Kind?) and WITS (Walk away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help), empowering pupils to respond effectively if bullying occurs.
Anti-Bullying Week reminded us all that we have the Power for Good — to make our school a safe, happy, and welcoming place for everyone.
