Be Safe not Sorry

The N.I. Fire Service educated our Primary 5 classes about the dangers of fire and how to make their homes safer, complementing their Term 1 WAU topic: Houses and Homes. They informed the pupils of what they should do in the event of a fire and the problems that can arise when hoax calls are made.

Pupils were shown the safety clothing worn by firefighters with Mrs O’Boyle challenged to see if she could put these on within the expected firefighter timeframe. The firemen stressed the need for working fire alarms in homes and the importance of having an agreed family escape plan. Pupils were each issued a special pack containing quizzes, activities and information to share with their families.
