Tantalising their tastebuds

P5OC had the exciting opportunity to attend a free cooking demonstration by Chef Arlene Thompson from Food4Life, facilitated by the Livestock and Meat Commission (LMC). The event was a wonderful blend of education and culinary delight, as pupils watched Chef Thompson prepare a mouth-watering chilli beef pasta using NIFQA beef.

Throughout the demonstration, Chef Thompson emphasized the importance of  eating a balanced diet as well as using quality assured produce. She explained the critical aspects of food safety and hygiene, ensuring that the meals we prepare are safe and healthy. Pupils also learned about the provenance of ingredients, gaining insight into where their food comes from and the journey it takes to reach their plates.

The wafting aroma of the chilli beef pasta aroused the curiosity of others, who came to investigate the source of the delicious smell. Pupils were thrilled to taste the dish and unanimously agreed that it was delicious. The cooking demonstration was a fantastic experience for the pupils, providing them with valuable knowledge about food and nutrition.
