To encourage our pupils to become more active in their journeys and activities Beverley, from Sustrans, has been really busy leading various sessions. The P1s discussed ‘People who help us on two wheels’. The P2s investigated the pushing and pulling forces at work when they ride their scooter or bicycle.
Primary Fours explored the importance of being safe and being seen, looking carefully at which colours and materials increase their visibility. They also took part in an active travel themed treasure hunt, focusing on why they should travel actively and how to keep safe. One class of P5 pupils looked at how a bike is put together: the strength of the shapes and properties of materials. Whilst another group was taught how to fix a puncture. Beverley also met with the school’s Eco-Agency for a map-based activity about planning safe routes to schools. To top it all off, Sustrans kindly provided every child in the school with a hi-vis vest and a reflector.
You too can be involved. Show your support by participating in the various campaigns that promote active travel to and from our school.
