The amount of electricity and power we waste is shocking so we signed up to take part in the energy saving campaign ‘Switch Off Fortnight’ which ran from 20th November until 3rd December. The topic was introduced at an assembly by our eco-agents and was designed to get the whole school working together and inspired to take action.
A fact-finding treasure hunt proved to be a novel way for pupils to learn about energy production and consumption. The school and nursery now have their own Energy Saving Lookout Force (E.L.F.) who patrol the corridors and classrooms, making sure lights and devices are switched off when not in use. Hopefully this will cut our school’s energy bill and more importantly help the environment. We are really looking forward to participating again next year and hope that parents will get involved too.
