P6 really dig our school

P6LM got their hands dirty when they planted a section of hedgerow along the perimeter fence. Working in pairs, pupils dug holes and planted a combination of beech and hazel. Michael and his team from Belfast City Council were on hand to support and educate the pupils about the types of trees and other interesting details such as how to calculate the age of a tree.

Two pupils were given the honour of planting an oak sapling, which hopefully will be appreciated by St. Anne’s pupils many years from now. After all their toiling, P6LM got to enjoy a well-deserved cup of hot chocolate, as well as the chance to toast some marshmallows over the campfire and at the same time warm their hands on this cold wintery day. There’s nothing like the great outdoors!
