Get with the Program

Coding four microbots to perform a synchronised dance at the Sentinus Microbot and mBot Final in the Ulster University was the challenge embraced by a group of P7 pupils. Using the P7 concert as inspiration, they choose the music ‘Let’s go fly a kite’, dressing the microbots as Michael and Jane Banks with their kites. Much to the amazement of the judging panel, the girls decided to provide an ‘a cappella’ version of the soundtrack, singing the song themselves instead of using the recorded original, whilst the microbots executed their moves. The girls also got to explore a variety of other STEM exhibitions provided by companies, universities and colleges, all demonstrating science, engineering and technology in the workplace. Launching a rocket, flying and landing a drone, not a bad way to spend the day.
