A group of Primary 5 pupils had a taster of what it is like to be an engineer. Working with Mrs Siobhan Cox, from Queen’s University, the children had to construct a ‘2v geodesic dome’, a dome made up of 30 isosceles triangles and 10 equilateral triangles.
Teamwork and problem solving skills were crucial! Once erected, the pupils then had to decide on the position of the doorway. The removal of the wrong tube or nub could result in the dome collapsing. As you can see the pupils made the right choices and were delighted with their piece of engineering!
