Dressed as evacuees using ‘make-do’ clothing, the P4 year group got to enjoy a whole range of World War II themed activities: using a washboard, playing with marbles and spinning tops, simulating what to do during siren alerts, decoding Morse Code. They learnt some basic first aid and how to put a casualty’s arm in a sling. Pupils also attended a wartime dance, explored wartime artefacts provided by the ‘Northern Ireland War Memorial’ and listened to radio broadcasts. They finished the day off watching an episode of ‘Spy Watch’ sucking on barley sugar sweets! A truly victorious day!
